I’m participating in Star Wars ComLINKS, a Star Wars themed monthly link up. This month’s topic is: Weapon of Choice.
What do you think of when you hear the words: Star Wars? Chances are, a lightsaber was one of the first things that came to mind. Lightsabers are one of the most iconic objects in the Star Wars universe. Even if you are relatively unfamiliar (*gasp*) with the Star Wars universe, you probably know what a lightsaber is.
Just in case you are truly unfamiliar with what a lightsaber is; a lightsaber is a (sadly, fictional) weapon of a Jedi Knight, consisting of a metal hilt and a laser-like blade, powered by a crystal. Used similarly as a sword, a lightsaber can cut though nearly anything, including metal. Lightsabers can also be used to deflect blaster bolts, making it both an offensive and defensive weapon.
I decided on a lightsaber as my weapon of choice because they are unique to the Star Wars universe. Other franchises have blasters and bowcasters, but only Star Wars has lightsabers. I also appreciate the fact that lightsabers can be used for offence or defense. Personally, when it comes to the fight-or-flight response, I’m flight all the way. I would prefer to use a weapon to defend rather than attack, and a lightsaber would be an ideal choice for me.
Another thing that I love about lightsabers is how elegant they are. While the hilts may vary, they give off a powerful yet graceful vibe. The blades themselves are mesmerizing. When used in the dark, lightsaber blades give off a strong glow, illuminating those around it.
When my husband and I got engaged we wanted to have an engagement photoshoot that was lighthearted and showcased things we loved. Disneyland was the obvious choice for our photoshoot location. Knowing that Tomorrowland is the home to the Jedi Training Academy, we borrowed a pair of Force FX Lightsabers from my best friend and her boyfriend (now husband), and took a couple Star Wars themed photos in addition to our other engagement photos.
Someday I hope to start a collection of Force FX Lightsabers, or maybe even design a custom lightsaber. Either way, I think they can be a fascinating conversation piece if displayed.
Well, that is my Star Wars Weapon of Choice. To see what weapons other fans have chosen, be sure to check out Star Wars ComLINKS. Would you have chosen a different weapon? Let me know in the comments!
